So the upcoming nuptials of Will and Kate, which will happen in approximately 4 hours, is finally, FINALLY here! I am getting royal weddinged out and I have been trying to avoid the media blitz so I wouldn't get sick of hearing about it. I was actually unsure if I would watch the big event. But then, I got to thinking. How many times does this happen in one's lifetime. After all, Charles and Diana were married months before my birth and I was only five when Prince Andrew married Sarah Ferguson. Therefore this is the first time that I will see a royal wedding. Not to mention, this is THE ROYAL WEDDING, since William will be the future king and Kate will be his queen.
With that revelation, I decided I would stay up to watch the wedding. In a way, it is a historic event and I want to be a part of it. Even if that means watching at home in my PJs and sipping on some English tea. After all, I can sit here and make fun of all the funny hats. :)
Are you going to watch the wedding? Watch a replay? Or are you going to sleep through it and just watch the highlights on the news?
I was up at six, but then again, I always am. And it just so happened that the wedding was on instead of my normal news program, so yes, I did watch. I missed the kiss though, as that happened during my commute.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I was very cynical and didn't want to watch until I actually saw the ceremony in progress. As tears came to my eyes (yes, I love weddings), I had to admit that I was and am a hopeless romantic. Oh, well, historical moments and all that.
I made it until half way through the wedding and then I decided I had to go to bed. Before hand, though I saw some interesting documentaries on PBS about other royal weddings/relationships. I didn't see the kiss either, but saw a video of it on YouTube after I woke up.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I did stay up and watch the first part of the ceremony and at least saw the exchange of vows (I got teary eyed too), because it was a historical event and it was lovely.
